Course info:
This course is for people who have completed the beginners and intermediate course and have a good/high level of experience in working with clay. It is designed to improve skills, such as more confident handling of clay and tools, to create larger ceramics to own designs with a professional finish. Building techniques taught will be coiling, moulding and slabbing . Decorating techniques taught will be imprinting with oxides, glass decoration, brush on glazes and pouring glazes. In the first term Xmas decorations will be made combining ceramics with glass. Teaching will include demonstrations and individual and group tutorials. Different types of clay will be used as well as a variety of coloured slips We will look at basic kiln firings and temperature ranges for different glazes.
